It’s been roughly 4 months since I moved out of my husbands home and moved into my own townhouse. I’ve had a couple roller-coaster moments but I learnt to take them in stride. Before I moved in I had the entire house painted a neutral egg white, and I had the carpets redone. It was brown, a very dark chocolate brown and the style was 70′s shag. Yes, please take a moment to take it in. Visualize if you must………………………………………………….sigh!
The house was sitting vacant for a little while and had a couple illegal house sitters. They had kicked the door in so I had to change the door jam. The cupboards were done in a “pickled finish” and so I had the kitchen ones sanded and repainted in white. I had to fix the two broken air conditioners that gave neither air nor heat and also the hot water heater which was on it’s last leg. Yep, I pretty much emptied my tiny savings into this little house. But it was my house, and I was proud of my accomplishment.
As I said, it’s been roughly four months since I’ve moved in and I have only taken care of the basic stuff that my girls and I needed to live comfortably. As I am on a small fixer-upper budget, I’m going to have to be uber-creative in my endeavors. I have really grandiose plans for my house and hope to execute them throughout this promising year.
On a side note, ADT continues to hound me to sign up with them, but they rubbed me the wrong way when I moved in, but that’s another blog topic. Maybe tomorrow.
